CCTV is a great way of monitoring remote locations to check that systems are working properly, intruders are kept at bay and to provide verification that alarms are genuine and that the intruder alarm has not been compromised.

Most DVR and other CCTV systems can be connected to Merlin and directly linked to Intruder and other forms of alarm signalling so that when the alarm occurs the control room operator can visually verify the alarm activation.

Our experience has shown us that trying to view all of the CCTV cameras connected to a DVR at the same time is impossible. You must have some intelligence to define what cameras the control room people should view.

In this way you avoid missing vital CCTV footage.

Typically Broadband is an asyncronous transmission system and is designed for viewing web pages, it is not designed for remote transmission of CCTV images. Maximum frame rates are between 2 and 8 FPS and very often far less. This is sufficient to remotely monitor one or two cameras at the same time but not 8 or even 16.

CrossView is Merlin3's new remote DVR monitoring and viewing application, it will connect to many popular DVR/NVR and IP cameras - monitor for alarms (without relying on email broadcast of the alarm condition), it will poll the system and the server, provide a secure transmission path and it includes the unique GoFetch system.

GoFetch automatically collects images from the DVR when the alarm or DVR itself sends a trigger alarm. Depending on the model of the DVR these images will be from before the event  or at the time of the event. These images are displayed to the operator before he goes live to the cameras.

CrossView allows the mix and match of DVR and IP camera at the same site, cameras can be viewed from associated systems and all recordings and live views are recorded in the Merlin3 database for later recovery.

CrossView is compatible with analogue cameras, Azimuth, IP cameras and DVR/NVR.

Development is continuous.
